Gourmet Hipster Sister: Hello! I’m Jana, your Gourmet Hipster Sister. I’m a student at Brown University, and I divide my time between Providence, Rhode Island (where school is) and Dublin, Ireland (where home is), so I cook and blog from both of these locations. I’m a big lover of great food, I’m horrendously cheap and I’m a vegetarian who loves to cook as much as I love to explore new foodie hangouts. To be honest, I’m only a hipster in the food sense, and I’m only sure I can say that because wherever I go for lunch, I tend to be surrounded by hipsters. In fact, I’m not even sure I can even define what a hipster is properly. I needed a name for my little contribution to the blogosphere, and a friend and I emerged with “Gourmet Hipster Sister”, so here it is. I don’t claim to be a spokesperson for the hipster community, nor do I wish to mock hipsters or hipsterism with the title of this blog. Indeed, I am a hipster ally. This blog is a fun little personal project for me, and hopefully, as it expands to include fun, cheap recipes and foodie musings, it can become a handy resource for whoever reads it. Now, in a typically cheesy way to sign off, I wish you all bon appétit!
